This page is for the Christian Gamer, that would like a little insight on what content might bring about a red flag. To warn and bring awareness to the content within whichever video game that warranted that red flag. I will not go into full detail though, I'll just post the game and a few words explaining the content.

Red Flags

BioShock Infinite

  • Strong Intense Violence, Blood and Gore

  • Mild Sexual Themes, Suggestive/Sexual Dialogue

  • Use of Alcohol and Tobacco

  • Foul Language, Racist Lingo, Misuses of God's and Jesus' Name

  • Strong Religious Content, Blasphemous Situations

Note:

This game can make one think that it's displaying people with faith as simpleminded fools that are deceived with false hopes and idiocy. The undertones in this game can easily be misinterpreted by some, it's all dependent on who's behind the controller. It also can be downright offensive at times for gamers with the racial extremism or the dealing with very similar personal faith oriented subjects with an insensitive approach. The content in the game, may very well insult or offend you in some way, may even make you want to stop playing from conflicting beliefs, racism, blasphemous similarities or a misrepresentation of people with faith. Yes, this is fiction, it's a video game. However, the way I look at this situation is, that if you feel like it's wrong and it makes you feel like you're committing a blasphemous act or an act that just goes against what you believe or offends you personally. You have a right to stop playing, you have the right to feel the way you're feeling and the right to voice it.

That being said, it all comes down to that you're playing a game, where you're killing people and in very gruesome ways at times, subjecting yourself to foul language, misuses of God's and Jesus' name..etc. All of those things should already be bothering you, even if the strong religious blasphemous content or racism wasn't there. I believe we have just gotten accustomed to the content within games, especially the violence and strong language, to the point that we look over it and shrug it off. However the content in this game goes a little further and gets a little more personal. Therefore, it only goes to show that these games are rated M for Mature for a reason, even more so that ever before. Don't be mistaken, I'm not sticking up for this content or making excuses for it, believe me, I'm really upset about it. I mean, I just believe that you can make a story and craft it in many ways, without sacrificing your shock value, your thought-provoking process and even your original ideas. You don't need to get personal and use religion and faith as a crutch and a weapon for the story. Not to forget also, bringing racism in the equation and potentially opening a can of worms.

It's all about you and how you feel, buy it, don't buy it. I mean, I purchase books, music, movies and all forms of media, with the same kind of mindset. It's almost impossible nowadays to escape the bad or offensive content. You deal with it or find alternative forms of entertainment or even try to turn your brain off to the stuff that bothers you. You know, in this world nowadays, where people's everyday life is filled with so much stress and emotional pain and problems that nobody knows and wouldn't or couldn't understand. Video Games are a form of enjoyment and a release from the everyday troubles, sadness and struggles in life, a way to relax and have fun. I myself, play for fun and for the temporary peace of mind and escape that they bring. I don't take things so seriously in these virtual worlds. My life's hard enough on it's own, to worry about these virtual worlds and the content that gets thrown into them. That being said, I really do get disgusted and offended and downright outraged a lot of the times. Those games, usually get bad marks in my book and some games don't even get a chance at all, because I watch videos and do research and do not buy them. Bottom line is, that this game gets way too personal at times with it's content, but it's all about how you feel you can deal with it. Now, If you're buying it for your kids, well I don't recommend and I beg to you to not buy M rated games for kids at all, just saying.
